Now while the ingredients (nutrients) remain the same, depending on who the ratio is being prepared for the recipe is constantly changing. For instance, a high school athlete isn't going to have the same nutritional needs as an elderly diabetic … so you wouldn't exactly serve them up the same nutrition ratio, right? As a member of the Charlotte Dietetics Association's board, Terah Goad, who holds an M.S in Clinical Nutrition and has worked in the clinical setting before moving to preventative wellness in the corporate setting, has picked up a few prep tips that some trainers may have never considered when cooking up a client's nutrient ratio. Nutrient Ratios Standards: • Carbohydrates: 45-65% of calories • Fat: 20-35% of calories • Protein: 10-35% of calories • Endurance Athletes have higher carbohydrate requirement (50-65%). • Hypertrophy Athletes have higher protein requirements (1.2-1.5 Gm/Kg or at least 30% calories from overall calories). • Athlete specifications: C
